| My dear Friend, I need your expert help. My studies have shown that there are now plants in the City cultivated by the spirits of themselves! My dream is to collect these unusual plants in an experimental glasshouse and get recognition from the society of garden scientists. Do you promise to help me search? Believe me, I'll make it worth your while. |

ああ、友よ、お前さんお得意の力を貸して欲しいんじゃ。わしの研究で、今のシティには精霊達が自ら育てた植物があるっちゅうことが分かってのう！わしの夢はその珍しい植物を温室の試験場に集めて、造園科学者の学会で認められることなんじゃ。探索を手伝うと約束してくれるな？わしを信用せい、お前さんの働きにはちゃんと報いてやるぞい。 |
I'll make it worth your while: 働きなり、労力なりにちゃんと報酬を払うよと言う意味のフレーズ。 Deal! = It's a deal!: 取引成立だ。手を打とう。 💬報酬が示されてないのに手を打って大丈夫か？と思うけど、主人公は人が良いからなー。 |

★Sundew:
食虫植物の一種。和名はモウセンゴケ。起毛状ネバネバの触手のようなものを持っていて、それで昆虫などを捉えて栄養にする。英名sundewは朝露という意味で、ネバネバが朝日に光る朝露のように見える事から。 Sundew Wikipedia |

植物相手に試行錯誤を繰り返す者なら誰もが夢見るモノっちゅうのが何か知っとるか？「マンドレイク」の根っこじゃよ！マンドレイクは他のもんと一緒にいるのを嫌ってての、その事を恐ろしい叫び声で周りに分からせようとしとるんじゃ。この驚きの植物を一緒に探さんか？ | 💬クエスト名がその植物の特徴を端的に表していて、妙にツボ(笑)マンドレイクは確かに引きこもりって言えるかも |

お前さんが見付けてきた植物は素晴らしいコレクションになるぞい。あやつらに会いたくなったら、温室に来るがええぞ、のう？こうしてはおられん、わしは記録を取り始めじめにゃ！ライバルたちは嫉妬で目の色を変えるぞい。 感謝しとるぞ、頼もしい助手よ、わしがノーベル賞を取った暁(あかつき)には、スピーチでお前さんの貢献に触れると約束しようかの。 |
colleague: 同業者、同じ仕事をしてる人。ここでは日本語のいい意味のライバル(競い合う仲間)的な意味で使われている green with envy: 嫉妬で緑に変わる➡嫉妬でいっぱいになる。英語ではgreen が嫉妬の意に良く使われます。green eye も嫉妬の目、羨望のまなざしと言う意味。 💬プロフェッサーの会話がユーモアが効いていて楽しいです。でもノーベル賞はユーモアでなく本気かな？ |
