She appeared in 《Mystery of Willow Beasts》 ヘルガ：イースター･ヴェランダに住む霊的な力を持つ木彫り師で占い師。《Mystery of Willow Beasts》に登場。 💬主人公の「親友」は多いぞ？なにしろほぼすべての住人がオトモダチだからな。 (4段目) The brilliant water fascinated him... ※日本語では自分以外が主語の時、人の行動には「~のようだ」の様な断定を避ける表現を使うが、英語では直に見た様子についてはseemsを使わない。本当のところは本人に聞かないと分からないのは当たり前なので、敢えてseemsを使わないだけで、他人の様子を断定しているワケではなく、単に言い方の問題。こういう場面でseemsを使うと「一見興味がなさそうに見えたけど」みたいな感じになり、目が釘付けの様子と矛盾する。 He is sad.←見るからに悲しそう、ため息を吐いていたなど He seems sad.←笑ってるけど、なんとなく哀しいんじゃないかと思える look away: 目を逸らす

I had no time to look for you in the City, so I sent you this letter. Luck smiled upon Cardsharp! I found a river full of jewels. But there's a problem... I think they're cursed! Follow the river downward. I'll be waiting for you at a steep bank.		シティでお前さんを探してる暇がなくてね、そこでこの手紙を人に頼んだってワケだ。 ああ、幸運の女神がカードシャープに微笑んでいる！キラキラのお宝で溢れかえった川を見付けたんだよ。しかし問題が一つ…。俺の読みじゃあ、あれは呪われてやがるのさ！ 川に沿って川下に向かってくれ。切り立った崖の所で待ってるぜ。	★英語では運にかかわる名詞はよく擬人化される。 ・Luck：どう転がるか分からない運 ・Fortune：財産に関わる幸運 ・Fate：命に関わる運命 いずれも女神。 jewels: キラキラのお宝 ※ここではゴールドを指しているのでややこしいが、このjewelsはtreasureの比喩表現で、人にも使う
			(一段目) I'm sure~: 絶対~だ。~に決まってる。 ※ものすごい主観に基づく断定なので、真実かどうかは分からない。この手合いの「絶対」は日本語でもあまり信用ならないものである。 それに対してI'm certain~はかなりの客観性がある。そのせいで、会話では圧倒的にI'm sure。特にシティの住民はみんな主観で喋るからほとんどI'm certainと言わない。 でも世の中には、I'm sureと言うべきところをI'm certainと言って来る輩もいるので、もっと注意が必要である。さも客観的に主観を述べるヤツが一番厄介なのではないだろうか？←お前の事だぞ、管理人！ (三段目) 《experienceの前置詞 with/in/of》 ・have experience with~: ~の扱いには経験がある ←プロっぽい自信が感じられる、特殊なツールの「扱い」とか、子供の「扱い」に長けているとか。 ・have experience in~: ~の分野に覚えがある←「植物学」とか特定の分野を指す場合。やっぱり普通より経験値が高そうな感じがする ・have experience of~: ~な経験がある←これだけ全然ニュアンスが違う。たまたま自分にそう言う事が起きた逸話が続く。

I wanted to catch them at first, but I noticed withered flowers and grass near the shore. There's no fish in the water at all...		最初掴もうと思ったんだが、いや待てよ、そういや川岸の草花が萎れてたぞ、と。水中にはまったく魚がいないし…。
I have experience with cursed gold, so I decided not to risk it and call you first.		俺は呪われたゴールドの扱いにはそれなりの経験があってね、だからそういう危険を冒すのはやめようと決断して、ひとまずお前さんを呼んだってワケさ。
I also noticed that these shiny things in the river move faster than the current, like something is drawing them in!		それに、あのキラキラの物体が川の流れより速いことも気になるんだよ、まるで何かに吸い込まれてるみたいじゃないか！
We should follow them and find out if there is any source nearby that's attracting them.		後を辿って、アレを惹きつけるような誘引元がなにか近くにないか突き止めるのが良いだろう。

The mill yard is well maintained, and the house itself looks new. It clearly has an owner, but they seem to be gone now. Incredible! Like a magnet, the shiny particles in the river are attracted to the mill wheel. But then where do they go? 			mind your business: 自分のオシゴトに専念してくれ(こっちには口出すなよ) ※このbusinessには他の人に首をつっこまれたくないその人だけの関り事という特殊なニュアンスがある、非常に排他的で強い表現。マイルドに訳したが、かなり嫌味っぽい。 この意味でのbusinessの一番有名なフレーズがこちら。 It's none of your business：他人の話に首を突っ込むな、お前には関係ないから黙ってろ しかしこのフレーズはちょっとでも関りのある人に言うと、通常大慌てで「そんな事言わないでよ、関係あるじゃない」とか「友達じゃないか」とかとりなしにくる。それくらい強いので注意

While the townspeople rejoice at the coming of spring, Cardsharp is excited about a new opportunity. He noticed sparkling spheres similar to gold floating along the river. But he was scared to catch them on his own, as the gold in the river seemed to be cursed. Who owns this strange treasure, and what power does it hold?	Introduction 序文	街の人々が春の到来に浮かれる一方で、カードシャープは新しい儲け話のチャンスに大興奮。ゴールドによく似たキラキラの球体が川を流れているのを見付けてしまったのである。しかしそれを直接手に取るのには恐れをなした、なぜって川を流れるそのゴールドはどうも呪われてそうだから。この奇妙なお宝の持ち主は一体誰なのか？そして、それの持つ力とは一体何なのか？	💬今回は余裕があったのか、非常にセリフが生き生きとしていて面白い！やっぱりカードシャープが出て来たのが大きいのか？彼のセリフは嫌味っぽかったり、偉そうだったり、独特な含みがあるけど、それが色んな周囲の反応を引き出すんだよね。

Agvid, the first Doorkeeper of Spring, says the shiny spheres are particles of spring energy. They're supposed to fill nature but instead go to the riverside water mill. Its wheel draws them in and grinds them. What kind of evil sorcerer owns this miraculous mill? Goal: Examine the mill.	Chapter1 第一章	初代春のドアキーパーであるアグビッドは、キラキラの球体は春のエネルギー粒子であると言う。自然を満たすはずだったのに、そうではなく川沿いの水車小屋へと向かっているのだと。小屋の水車がエネルギー粒子を吸い込み、粉に挽いてしまっているのだ。このようなとんでもない水車を作ったのは、どんな不埒(ふらち)な魔導士なのだろうか？ ゴール：水車小屋を精査せよ。

			wash one's hands: 厄介事から手を引く、面倒な事に巻き込まれるのを拒む、責任を回避するために降りる。日本語の「悪事から足を洗う」に似ているが、wash my handsはたいていは事前に手を引く時に使うので、ちょっと状況が違う 💬え？降りちゃうの？せっかく出て来たのに…。カードシャープがいた方が面白いんだけどなぁ。残念！

I wish the particles in the river were gold, too. But things are more serious than you think. These are particles of spring energy, and their appearance doesn't mean anything good. Pay attention to that pair of herons by the mill wheel. If someone is grinding and freezing the spring particles, there must be other evidence. Look at these mechanical scales. Someone obviously weighed sacks of whatever they ground on them. Let's see if there are any traces of stolen particles on the scales.
