| "Change the very essence of the World of Darkness"... sounds huge and scary. Let's review the facts. It appears that Jack was prepared to do anything for his chosen one. He experimented with a gift for the girl and even outfitted the garden of his castle for the Masquerade Ball. I still don't understand what the bold plan was, but this plan is the reason why the City is now overrun with terrible monsters, and why Jack himself has been kidnapped. How do we find out what Jack did? In his diary, he mentioned a Professor who helped execute the final part of his "plan". I think he's our key witness, but I've never heard of such a person in the City. |

| I'm really struggling with this puzzle. What did our mysterious saboteur give to Jack that broke my miracle machine and led to the exact opposite effect? The portal between worlds is made from Jack's Magic Mirror. Together with my machine, it should have only bestowed good magical attributes to specially selected monsters that would be released through the mirror from the World of Darkness and into the City. |

This magical fuel is the exact opposite of what Jack wanted to give the monsters. faced with a very pressing question: how do we fix the machine and get
rid of the monsters? Right now, the situation looks like this: 1) The portal, which is equipped with the machine, connects three worlds - the City of Shadows, the world of man, and the World of Darkness - and it only works on the eve of Halloween. 2) The passageway to only one world can be open at a time. Currently it's the World of Darkness, where Jack was dragged to in his human form. The monsters, that were given the ability to cause terror in the City by the corrupted machine, are coming from there. 3) Jack's servants should have brought the sleeping Salem from the world of man through this portal on Halloween. 4) We must rescue Jack before closing the portal. Halloween won't come without him. |

Professor's help, we managed to defeat the fear that was debilitating
the City of Shadows and save the powerless Jack from the clutches of
monsters. However, the true goal of the Halloween Spirit's treacherous
"helper", who hijacked Jack's plans, was not Jack himself, but his
beloved Salem. She was taken by a portal into the World of Darkness, and
she's now caught between life and death. Why kidnap Salem? What was so
unusual about that mortal girl, to cause conflict between the Halloween
Spirit and his treacherous assistant? Will she survive the monster's
